There's something about a photo cropped to just a pair of shoes from above that is so intriguing. The small snapshop into someone's life. The variety and possibilities are endless. For such an obscure idea, it's surprisingly compelling...
The best photos I've seen consistently have to be those of Katrina at Puglyfeet. Great colour, composition, subject, technique... She's even started a group of Flickr. If you're feeling out of touch with your surroundings lately, pack your camera as you leave today. Challenge yourself to notice what's around you. You'll start to see the world a little differently, and it's funny how that small change in attitude manifests itself in other aspects of your life.

I love the colourful and the feminine shots. The quirky and artistic. But it's the seemingly banal shots that end up being the most poetic.
I don't know, maybe I'm being too existential this week...

Great perspective shots here, Jordan.
It was a pleasure to read this post and to learn that someone understand. For instance, some family members seem to think that I take pictures of my feet because of some sort of strange foot fetish -- nothing could be further from the truth. Your post hits my intentions right on. Thanks for explaining it so well. :)
hahah i always take photos of my shoes, it's fun!
