...when I wish I could sew. I have these moments of clarity when I envision the perfect garment. So unique and off-trend that of course it doesn't exist. The last time I had a moment like that resulted in my Muerte tee. And it seems I wasn't the only one looking for that exact t-shirt design... I am definitely, by no means, a fashion designer, or stylist for that matter. I often get it all totally wrong. But I every now and again I'll put something together that breaks all the current rules - yet there is just something about it that is silently screaming yes to me.
Right now I am envisioning a tailored black top, something fitted but long line (more flattering over the saddlebags), with cross over straps of some kind (front and/or back), and to set it off - a slight bustle/coat tails thing. Something that says burlesque and circus sideshow in a subtle way. I see it with my S&B black rats and Wittner heels (the ones affectionately nicknamed the hooker shoes). Set off with my crazy red bedhair thing I've got going at the moment. Hot.
But it don't exist. Not yet anyway. In the meantime, I spied this top by Sass and Bide currently gracing the racks of General Pants in Australia. This looks deceptively simple to recreate. I may end up eating my words on that. But considering my depleted bank account, I'm game to try my hand at it.
Also loving these pics from Valleygirl's Spring 09 collection. Too bad the photos look better than the real thing in store. Inspiring all the same...
