Vintage Lovin'

I've never been good at scavenging the vintage and op-shops for amazing garments and objects. It's just a talent I don't have. But I'm inspired after my old book purchase to look into it more. There are so many vintage resellers out there on Ebay and Etsy - people with an eye for a gem. These are a few things I found today that I am lovin'...

Vintage Telephone from UrbanLotus
How amazing is this? Following on from my previous post of vintage electronics I just couldn't pass this by. If I ever get around to finding a nice big bookcase for my studio I'm filling half of it with treasures like this!

Chiffon Dress from MyFavoriteVintage
Now this is just to die for. I can totally imagine this dress as part of a fabulous photo shoot - can't you? This girl has loads of the most amazing vintage dresses I've ever seen - perfect for special occasions.

I reckon the trick is in the photos. The right composition, lighting and props can totally make or break a vintage item. It's all about finding the inner essence of that item and accentuating it. I think if I saw these items in an op-shop, or a dark photo with a dodgy background I wouldn't have the same vision.

A fantastic photo is definitely worth the extra effort - it shows you are professional and chic. And if you don't know how to capture your items in the best possible way - find a budding photographer who can! Check out these How-to articles on the Etsy Storque. These are some other beaut finds over on Etsy...

And while I have your attention - if you are an Etsy store owner, artist or blogger looking for some exposure on a budget - why not check out my cheap advertising? I offer 8 spaces at the top of my blog through Project Wonderful - an advertising broker. It's a bit like Ebay, in that you bid for the spots and never go over your maximum bid. So quite often it works out less than you bid for! At the moment spaces are available for 30c a day, but that's just the minimum bid - so you could end up paying next to nothing. Told you it was cheap!

Click here to see more details - the page lists the available and taken spots, statistics on visits and page-views, as well as bidding trends and site referrals. Making it all very easy to see if this blog suits your needs!

Getting good photos can be really tricky. I sure haven't mastered it, especially with clothes. That phone did come out pretty good, though ;)
