Hello strangers...it's moi again. The plethora of work continues and so does my adjustment to the new dynamic. Needless to say that my personal life is somewhat non-existent and I've been camping out at the studio on weekends to get it all done. I do miss normal life - browsing through blog posts and tweets, engaging with my online peeps, going out occasionally for fun. I'll sort myself out eventually!
So this is the cover art for subsketch's new album Department of Human Services, which is coming out oh-so-very-soon. It's a feast of retro/vintage with collage and photomontage and one of my favorite jobs to date. Lots of black and white, splashes of red, an eye-popping centrepiece - think femme fatale, Peter Lorre, Cab Calloway and Gothamesque with a surrealist/trippy bent and you might start to get the picture.
Also working towards 3 new pieces to exhibit at Disband in Melbourne at the end of August. I'm a sucker for series, so I'm basing my pieces around the three main emotions behind break-ups - Anger, Sadness and Apathy. It's going to be a vintage collage, pop-surrealist, typographic, stitchy sensation! So if you're in Melbourne on the 26th, head down to No Vacancy for a delightful exhibition. I had the pleasure of attending opening night at the Sydney show - and Angela and Renee did a standout job. Seriously, those girls are more talented than words can say. So step back in time and enter the fictional apartment of a couple breaking up and oggle over the original artworks on the walls.
Ok, back to work for me. Till next time lovelies...
